Marayong railway station is located along the Richmond branch line and is 37.4km from Central.[1] It serves the suburbs of Marayong and Kings Park as well as a nearby industrial area. The station consists of 1 Island (forming 2 platforms), and is accessed by a lift-enabled overhead footbridge. Marayong is serviced by T1 Western and T5 Cumberland Line trains in both directions.

Marayong station is the 143rd most patronised railway station in Sydney (out of a total of 176 stations), with an average of 1120 passengers boarding per day.

History[]

Marayong railway station opened on 2 October 1922 as a single platform. Its name was derived from the Aboriginal word meaning 'emu'.[2]

Upgrade[]

As part of the Transport Access Program, Marayong received multiple improvements, such as a new commuter car park, footpaths and lighting. The upgrade began construction in November 2015 and finished in June 2017.[3]

Platforms[]

The station is served by four trains per hour (tph) each way during the off-peak, dropping to 2tph at night, with additional trains during weekday peak hours.
