Tuggerah railway station is located in Tuggerah on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia on the Central Coast and Newcastle Line. The station has two platforms. The station is served by intercity trains to Sydney and Newcastle. It is located close to Westfield Tuggerah, one of the biggest shopping centres on the central coast. The shopping centre is a twenty minute walk away, or there are regular bus services that pass it.

History[]

The station opened in 1890 as Tuggerah Lakes. It was renames to Tuggerah on 1 January 1891. The name was reverted back to Tuggerah Lakes at an unknown date, and then it's name was again reverted to Tuggerah on 22 July 1911. [1]

Construction of lifts began in 2010 under the Labor government, but ceased with the change to Liberal government in 2011. There are still yet to be lifts at the station. Instead there are 450m long ramps. [2]

A new commuter car park is being planned at Tuggerah, as part of the government's $3 billion Infrastructure and Job Acceleration Fund. [3]

Platforms and services[]

Tuggerah station is an express station, so all Central Coast and Newcastle line trains stop at the station.
